Fair Grounds Race Course, often known as New Orleans Fair Grounds, is a thoroughbred racetrack and racino located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The track was initially opened as the "Union Race Course" in 1852.
In 1872, the Metairie Association abandoned racing at the legendary Metairie Race Course and transferred racing to Fair Grounds, where they formed the Louisiana Jockey Club.
