The moment of truth has arrived for Funny Cide and his gang at Sackatoga Stables as the biggest day in North American horse racing in 25 years is about to culminate with Funny Cide's expected victorious romp towards the finish line in today's 135th Belmont Stakes. Not only can Funny Cide win this prestigious New York race for the people of New York but he can also win what no New York bred, or gelding for that matter has ever done before, become a TRIPLE CROWN WINNER!
As we have done throughout the Triple Crown season, here are the selections from HorsesWild Cappers in one easy to digest, easy to print page that you can take to the tracks! Good Luck at the Races!
Scoot - Funny Cide
I like Funny Cide to win after doing battle once again with Empire Maker. Scrimshaw Will Go To The Lead And Funny Cide Will Be Following Him But, Santos Has To Rate And Be Careful Not To Get Caught Up In A Speed Duel With Scrimshaw Trying To keep Him Close! Empire Maker Will Follow Funny Cide All The Way Around The Track Until Time To Make His Move, The Rest Will Hope They Have Tired Horses To Run At Down The Stretch! If Scrimshaw Doesn't Burn Out Funny Cide And Empire Maker (Which I Don't Really Think Will Happen) They Run Down The Stretch Together With Funny Cide Pulling Away From Empire Maker To Go Into The History Of Horse Racing Gang!
I Think Dynever Gets Up For Show Over Ten Most Wanted. If And Only If There Is A Burnout Factor In This Race, Then I Would Say Dynever Will Win Over Funny Cide Tiring In The Stretch After Going Too Fast With Scrimshaw! That Would Be The Worst Case Scenario I Can Give You If You Are Looking For An Upset! But I Will Pick It.
1- Funny Cide
2- Empire Maker
3- Dynever
4- Ten Most wanted
Have A Great Day At The Track And You Just May Wittness History Today Gang
Go Funny Cide, I'm Pulling For You All The Way
TurnForHome - Funny Cide
I think today is the day we crown a new Triple Crown winner. Funny Cide has looked magnificent in his works this week and I think it is just a mater of how much he wins by. I am going with Dynever for second and Empire Maker to complete the tri. Empire's works have looked pretty sluggish and I just don't know how the layoff is going to affect him, especially if we get rain as forecast.
Belmont Stakes 2003
Race 11: 4-5-1-6
DYOTPicks - Scrimshaw
Exacta Box: 3 Scrimshaw/5 Dynever
Trifecta box: 3 Scrimshaw/5 Dynever/4 Funny Cide
And if the track gets wet/sloppy throw in 2 Supervisor.
FireFly - Funny Cide
There's no doubt that Funny Cide is very much on top of his game. I can feel the festive folks in New York all the way to here. There just might be a new record crowd this Saturday at Belmont Park with chills up the spines waiting on this long week. It is very amazing to see a little history here, if Funny Cide stays himself through the race.
Its Funny Cide all the way! I went with this gelding in the Kentucky Derby when eveyone else was elsewhere. I'm still with this one all the way. For the nay sayers, this one is for real. I was told Empire Maker could beat him in the Ky Derby, but I played him anyway, knowing the only opinion that counted were the ones that had the right number on their tickets. Here is a bold prediction in the Belmont........ Funny Cide by 7 Plus Lengths....Pulling away !
You got it on Horses Wild First!
Slick - Funny Cide
What will the doubters say when Funny Cide destroys this field of 6?
I'm not just thinking this horse will win the Belmont, but win it in style I'm actually expecting a monster to show up on the race today!
You might think I'm nuts, but I really believe we're all in for a real treat on June 7th. I think our long wait for over a quarter century for a Triple Crown winner will finally be over!
I've looked at the competition, and I must say I'm not impressed! In fact, I think in order to make it fair race, each of the jockeys on the other horses should be issued hand-held battery operated electrical prods in order to try and keep pace with the eventual winner. Photographs should also be taken to make sure that they were used during the race. This might be the only scenario the doubters will believe as to how good Funny Cide really is!
Do I have high expectations? You're dam straight I'm looking forward to a great race by one horse against its only competition............the Clock.
If he doesn't break Secretariat's record I won't be angry.
If he doesn't win the Belmont I'll be shocked!
Eman - Funny Cide
Im picking FUNNY CIDE and I think he will win convincingly, and Im putting DYNEVER & SUPERVISOR & TEN MOST WANTED for 2nd & 3rd.
I see a slow paced race with SCRIMSHAW and EMPIRE MAKER being the ones forced out front setting the pace, and when they turn for home Funny Cide, Dynever, Supervisor, & Ten Most Wanted, taking off for the wire leaving Empire Maker $ Scrimshaw behind, with Funny Cide beating all of them to the wire.
Race 11: Belmont Stakes 12F 4/5-2-6
3-1 (Front Runners)
4-6 (off the Pace)
5-2 (Closers)
Jerry - Funny Cide
I paid the price for dropping Funny Cide at the Belmont when his speed figure said it all, after a 114 Beyer at the Preakness 9+ lenghts ahead of the competition, there is no more room for doubt for this horse.
Add to that the excellent workouts throughout the three week period, this horse likes to race, he likes to run, he treats workouts like races. What more the real races? This is a smart horse with a BIG HEART, they took away something from him but not HIS HEART and he will show it to the entire horse racing world today!
Like most other cappers, the dillema is to spot Funny Cide's company for the exotic bets. I really like Ten Most Wanted to run a decent race, the small field preventing any bumps at the start he should be able to use his tactical speed. Empire Maker will be there, too and then Dynever. Scrimshaw will burst out of the gate and probably run out as the horses approach the final turn. Supervisor is just out of this league of fine horses.

Race Chart
EMPIRE MAKER was taken to the outside approaching the first turn, stalked the pace while four wide along the backstretch, edged closer on the far turn, drew along side FUNNY CIDE to challenge at the three-eighths pole, surged to the front midway on the turn, shook off FUNNY CIDE to gain a clear advantage leaving the quarter pole, dug in when threatened in upper stretch, drifted out when struck left handed with the whip nearing the eighth pole then turned back TEN MOST WANTED through the final sixteenth of a mile.
TEN MOST WANTED brushed with DYNEVER at the start, was strung out five wide on the first turn, continued wide while just behind the leaders along the backstretch, closed the gap a bit on the turn, launched a rally five wide entering the stretch, made a run outside the winner to threaten in deep stretch, but could not get up.
FUNNY CIDE broke outward slightly at the start, rushed up to gain the early advantage on the first turn, set the pace well off the rail while in hand along the backstretch, led to the far turn, relinquished the lead to the winner at the three-sixteenths pole, battled along the inside to the top of the stretch then weakened from his early efforts.
DYNEVER brushed with TEN MOST WANTED at the start, settled just off the pace while between horses for a mile, raced within striking distance to the turn then came up empty in the stretch.
SUPERVISOR never reached contention after breaking a step slowly while racing six wide throughout. SCRIMSHAW moved up along the rail to contest the early pace, raced close up along the inside for a mile, dropped back on the turn, drifted very wide at the quarter pole then gave way.
