Fair Grounds Race Course, often known as New Orleans Fair Grounds, is a thoroughbred racetrack and racino located in New Orleans, Louisiana. The track was initially opened as the “Union Race Course” in 1852.
In 1872, the Metairie Association abandoned racing at the legendary Metairie Race Course and transferred racing to Fair Grounds, where they formed the Louisiana Jockey Club.

Fair Grounds has endured the adversities of changing ownerships, wars, floods, fires, epidemics, hurricanes, economic hardships, racing prohibitions, politics and all forms of gaming competition. Fair Grounds is the oldest site of racing in America still in operation.
