To all HorsesWild members who post their selections.
We have decided to maintain the Original format for posting either
Pre-race or Live selections. There are (11) basic posting Rules that we would like everyone to follow:
1) All selected entries that are posted must be listed with the Race No. and the Entry No. as a betting interest.
.........(The posting of an Entry’s Name with it number is optional.)
.........(The posting of any comments about a race's potential or playability is also optional)
2) For posting of preferred selections the following limits will apply:
a) For all races with 5 or less entries, ONLY the top 2 selections are to be provided.
b) For all races with 6 or 7entries, ONLY the top 3 selections are to be provided. Note: A 4th may be added, but only for the Exotics if a Triple or Super is available. (If the Exotic doesn't hit, and the 4th choice wins, no win credit is valid)
c) For all races with 8 to 10 entries, ONLY the top 4 selections are to be provided.
d) For all races with 11 or more entries ONLY the top 4 selections with a possible long shot are to be provided. The long shot must be indicated as such.
3) For "Pre-race" selections ONLY - An additional entry may be posted in “(parenthesis)”. This will indicate an Alternate in case of a scratch.
4) If a single KEY entry is posted (to be used in Exoctis) then one additional entry may be listed for each case shown above.
5) The alternative for Exotic type bets - multiple selections can be posted for each of the top 4 positions separately. Each position will have a limited number of entries also based on the overall No. of entries in the Race as follows:
a)2/2/3/3 – for 7 or less Race Entries
b)2/3/4/4 - for 8 to 10 Race Entries
c)2/3/4/5 – for 11 or more Entries
6)ALLselections are to be listed in a Ranked Order of Preference. That means the entries posted from left to right are shown as those which the player deems as the better selections.
7)ALL Live selections should be posted by 5 mins. to Post time if possible. NO Live selection should be made beyond 3 mins. to Post for obvious reasons.
8 )NO Editing what-so-ever of ANY originally posted selections. Any changes or revisions must be made on a separate post at least 3 mins to post time.
9) Only a SINGLE thread will be used for any track on any given day. Pre-race and Live race selections will be co-mingled on the same thread.
10)Special Pre-race selections (Long shots, Hot Tips, Angles Plays, etc.) for multiple tracks can be posted on a unique thread of their own.
11) Posting of Results is Optional. All Results provided must be posted seperately on the SAME thread where the original selections were made.
NOTE: Providing fewer race selections for a race is Never an issue.
If anyone is wondering why this announcement is necessary, please keep in mind that others are trying to use our selections. By each of us following the same basic format, it will be easier and less confusing for others to follow. Most of us are already following these rules to some degree, but very often we can get carried way with our enthusiasm to provide a winning play. So lets see if we can abide by these rules without having to police the various threads.
Any HW member can submit their suggestions or comments to me or JWeb in a Private Message. We will consider modifying or adding to this format if necessary.
Thanks for your cooperation and Best of Luck! _________________ Where Smart Money is the Name of the Game! Contact:totemaster@tote-works.com

Thanks a lot SLICK for taking the time to put together and posting these regulations so that we all can retain HorsesWild's reputation as a valuable resource to online horse bettors looking for dependable and reliable selections.
I am hoping that new and old "veteran" handicappers alike will abide by these regulations. I for one, will abide by them, too!
Keep the winners coming guys! _________________ - - - -

Hello Slick, Jerry, T&B and Everyone,
I like the new Posting Format very much it makes it a little more competitive among the handicappers. This is a great forum and i see this making it better than what it already is. Kudo's to everyone here.

T&B Rule # 2-b
b) For all races with 5 to 7 entries, ONLY the top 3 selections are to be provided.
This race can carrie a TRI with a 7 horse race I would think that its asking a bit much to post only 3 entries in order to hit a TRI or COLD TRI?
I for one would Box 4 enyries if the race could bring in a good pay which I have done many a time.
With that said would it be better if it read more like.
2-b)For all races with 5 or 6 entries, Only the top 3 selections are to be proivded.
Very good point T&B! I have made changes to Rules 2a & 2b by combining b & c together.
Since I do not play the Pick-Whatever bets, I really don't have a good feel for making Rules for that type of bet. Any ideas are more then welcome.
(This thread is now open for posting suggestions.)
I'm glad that no one has any problems with this format. I think if we can maintain it, all those using our selections will have an easier time understanding our intentions.

If it makes it a bit more competitive, that's fine too. But I know that everyone posting selections is always trying to give it their best shot!
To those using selections: Remember you have the last word. Just because we're posting selections for every race, doesn't mean that every race is playable, or even worth playing. Keep looking for value!
Best of Luck! _________________ Where Smart Money is the Name of the Game! Contact:totemaster@tote-works.com

Thanks Slick for the review on the R#2-b I think it was a good choice other than that yes i do agree that there should be some kinda system in place so PPL dont run a muck for lack of better words with there post using giant wheels and 5 horses in there pks unless there changing horses in a wheel.

Everyone else seemed to get the idea and the spirit of what the Posting Rules were all about. Of course they’re not etched in stone, but in a democratic community the majority still rules.

Forgive me if I missed something but I never seen a vote on this however I did open WH one day and awoke to RULES?
By what i have been seeing in the breif day or two since these rules were posted, that they are just not working and there seems to be some friction created by them.
Well actually T&B the Posting Rules were based on all of the things that have been going on over the last 3 years that I’ve been involved with HW. I didn’t just pull them out of the sky! That being said and since most of people posting acknowledged this, I would certainly call that a majority. In fact, both you and JWeb applauded the idea!
The Rules I felt were necessary not for those using the selections, but for many were posting them. I haven’t heard a single complaint from anyone who is using our selections. The only discontent is coming from those who are posting the selections. Everyone seems to have there own style and some are complaining about what others are doing. I do believe there is a limit to realistic playing. This thread is a good example of what can happen when new members decide to turn the selection process into a fantasy.
Posting selections with less then 3 mins to post? Give me a break! Is a user going to be able to realistically make a decision and then actually make a bet? These selections were not posted to help anyone. They were posted purely for self-gratification.
Posting selections in numerical order instead of order of preference? Who is that supposed to benefit? If some who post fewer selections are complaining about those posting 4, how do they feel when those who 4 (or even 5) are not even listed by inclination? One guy on this thread thought that a cold exacta was hit only because the selections happened to be listed that way not by intention but rather in just numerical order.

This may have been a good intention that went SOUTH!!
My intention for establishing these posting guidelines was something I felt was long overdue. Seeing the discontent among friends is not something I enjoy. Hearing about first class players wanting to leave because of it caused an immediate reaction on my part.
I’m sorry to have made what I thought to be a reasonable attempt to bring the selection process back to some reality. I have better things to do with my time then to play nursemaid. Personally I find all of this a big distraction.

I think the best thing for HW is to contiune the way it was and let the users question the post with picks they want to know how to play.
Simple and has worked here for the 2 yr period Ive been proud to be a part of HW
Unfortunately T&B it’s obviously not going to continue the way it has without some guidelines. Yes it has worked well, but my friend things are changing.
