Champion filly Stardom Bound could bid for the Kentucky Derby (G1) crown that eluded her sire Tapit, grandsire Pulpit and great-grandsire A.P. Indy. While A.P. Indy was scratched on the morning of the 1992 classic, Pulpit finished fourth in the 1997 Run for the Roses and exited the race with a bone chip, and Tapit wound up ninth in 2004. That was the culmination of a difficult spring for Tapit. After concluding his perfect juvenile campaign with a resounding victory in the Laurel Futurity (G3), he reappeared in the Florida Derby (G1), only to suffer his first loss when sixth.
