The 2009 Breeders’ Cup Challenge kicks off at Monmouth Park with the $250,000 Salvator Mile Handicap on Saturday, July 4.
As part of the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” program, the Salvator Mile Handicap winner will automatically be one of the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile entries.

- Smooth Air ridden by jockey P. Lopez, 121 lbs.
- Solar Flare ridden by jockey Gabriel Saez, 119 lbs.
- Kiss the Kid ridden by jockey Channing Hill, 121 lbs.
- Coal Play ridden by jockey Joe Bravo, 117 lbs.
- Two Step Salsa ridden by jockey Garrett Gomez G K, 121 lbs.
- Keep Laughing ridden by jockey Eddie Castro E, 117 lbs.
- The Roundhouse ridden by jockey Christopher Decarlo, 117 lbs.
