Presious Passion Wins The United Nations Stakes at Monmouth Park July 4
Patricia Generazio’s Presious Passion, ridden by jockey Elvis Trujillo, won the $750,000 United Nations Stakes 2 yeas in a row at Monmouth Park on Saturday, July 4.
Trained by Mary Hartmann, Presious Passion covered 1 3/8 miles on turf in 2:10.97 and paid $7.40, $3.80 and $3. Lauro, under jockey Jorge Chavez, placed second and returned $11.20 and $7.80. Brass Hat with jockey Stewart Elliott aboard came in third and paid $8.20 to show.
United Nations Stakes winner Presious Passion earned the spot in the Breeders’ Cup Turf entries list as part of the 2009 Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In’ Challenge.
“This year I’m hoping to go to the Breeders’ Cup (Nov. 7) with him,” race horse trainer Mary Hartmann said. “If all goes well and he stays healthy, it’s very likely.”
Other horses that raced in Monmouth‘s United Nations Stakes in order of finish: Spice Route, Banrock, Court Vision, Strike a Deal and Wesley. Better Talk Now was scratched.
