Lookin At Lucky Wins The Norfolk Stakes at Santa Anita Park October 4
Lookin At Lucky, ridden by jockey Garrett Gomez, won the $299,000 Norfolk Stakes at Santa Anita on Sunday, October 4.
Trained by Bob Baffert, Lookin At Lucky covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:43.11 and paid $3.60, $2.60 and $2.40. Pulsion, under jockey Mike Smith, placed second and returned $6.80 and $4. Gallant Gent with jockey Martin Pedroza aboard came in third and paid $8.40 to show.
As part of the Breeders’ Cup 2009 Challenge, the Norfolk Stakes winner gets a spot in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile entries on November 7 at Santa Anita Park.
“He’s the best 2-year-old I’ve had in the last five years,” race horse trainer Bob Baffert said. “He’s got something different than the other ones have ever had and it’s exciting.”
Other horses that raced in Santa Anita‘s Norfolk Stakes in order of finish: .John Scott, Jung Man Scott, Dave in Dixie, Alfarabi, Came Aboard, Seattle Ruler, Lucky Rave (GB) and Sterling Outlook. Hurricane Ike was scratched.
