Indygo Mountain is the 3-1 morning-line favorite among the Lecomte field of nine 3-year-olds. In his last start last November 19, the son of A. P. Indy, Indy Mountain, won by a 6 1/4-length margin at Churchill Downs. He was second in his first career start in October at Keeneland.
Trained by Bret Calhoun, Indygo Mountain had a 5-furlong breeze Monday morning at Fair Grounds in 1:03.40 over sloppy going. Indygo Mountain will be ridden by jockey Jamie Theriot this Saturday.
The Lecomte Stakes is the ninth race in the January 10 Fair Grounds “Road to the Derby” Kickoff Day horse racing program. Lecomte post time is 4:29 pm. Included in its stakes filled undercard are:
$75,000 F. W. Gaudin Memorial Stakes at 6 furlongs for 4-year-olds and up
$100,000 Colonel E. R. Bradley Handicap (gr. III) at 1 1/16 miles on turf for 4-year-olds and up
$75,000 Louisiana Handicap at 1 1/16 miles for 4-year-olds and up
$75,000 Dr. A. B. Leggio Memorial Stakes at 5 1/2 furlongs on turf for 4-year-old and up fillies and mares
$75,000 Tiffany Lass Stakes at 1 mile for 3-year-old fillies
First post time at Fair Grounds January 10 starts 12:30.
