Kentucky Derby Winner Mine That Bird On His Way To Pimlico Race Course For The Preakness Stakes 2009
Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird is on his way to Pimlico Race Course for the May 16 Preakness Stakes 2009.
The 50-1 long shot in the Kentucky Derby Mine That Bird and race horse trainer Bennie Woolley Jr. left Barn 42 at Churchill Downs Tuesday morning to make their way east to Maryland, where Mine That Bird runs in the Preakness Stakes on Saturday.
Mine That Bird, with jockey Calvin Borel aboard, made a last-to-first dash that culminated with the second-biggest upset in Kentucky Derby history last May 2.
Jockey Mike Smith, who rode 2005 Kentucky Derby winner Giacomo, will get the mount for Mine That Bird in Saturday’s Preakness Stakes replacing jockey Calvin Borel who will be riding Kentucky Oaks winner Rachel Alexandra in the Preakness.
Race horse trainer Bennie Woolley said his horse has been training well since the Kentucky Derby.
