Holy Bull Stakes Field at Gulfstream Park January 31
Kentucky Derby hopefuls Beethoven, West Side Bernie and Danger to Society are making their 3-year-old debut in the $150,000 Holy Bull Stakes (gr. III), a 2009 Kentucky Derby prep race to be held at Gulfstream Park Saturday, January 31.

Bruce N Autumn ridden by jockey Edgar Prado carries 114 lbs.- Danger to Society ridden by jockey Robby Albarado, 114 lbs.
- Bear’s Rocket ridden by jockey Kent Desormeaux, 114 lbs.
- Saratoga Sinner ridden by jockey Julein Leparoux, 114 lbs.
- El Crespo ridden by jockey Javier Castellano, 114 lbs.
- Rockland ridden by jockey Jose Lezcano, 114 lbs.
- Stately Character ridden by jockey Herb McCauley, 120 lbs.
- Idol Maker ridden by jockey John Velazquez, 114 lbs.
- Nowhere to Hide ridden by jockey Alan Garcia, 114 lbs.
- West Side Bernie ridden by jockey Elvis Trujillo, 122 lbs.
- Beethoven ridden by jockey Calvin Borel, 122 lbs.
John Oxley’s Beethoven won the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (gr. II) at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, on November 29 in his last outing. Beethoven will again be ridden by jockey Calvin Borel, who rode him in the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes.
West Side Bernie is making his first start since a strong runner-up effort in the Delta Jackpot (gr. III) at Delta Downs in Louisiana on December 5. In his 2 previous starts, West Side Bernie won the Kentucky Cup Juvenile (gr. III) at Turfway Park and finished sixth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park. Jockey Elvis Trujillo will be aboard West Side Bernie in the Holy Bull Stakes.
Lansdon Robbins III and Sam Delaney’s Danger to Society has 2 wins from as many starts and will be making his stakes debut in the Holy Bull. Danger to Society won his debut at Churchill Downs in mid-November and came back with a 3 1/2 length allowance score going 1 1/8 miles over the Gulfstream track on January 8 in his only other start. Jockey Robby Albarado will be riding Danger to Society this Saturday.
The Holy Bull Stakes is the 7th race in Gulfstream Park’s January 31 horse racing program. Holy Bull post time is 4:12 pm. Included in its race card is the $500,000 Donn Handicap (gr. I) at 1 1/8 miles for 4-year-olds and up.
