Filly Rachel Alexandra Clear For The Preakness Stakes 2009

Filly Rachel Alexandra will get her shot to run with the boys in the Preakness Stakes 2009.

SBG Global RacebookKentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird race horse owner Mark Allen said he wouldn’t enter colt Indy Express into the Preakness Stakes which clears the way for the Kentucky Oaks winner Rachel Alexandra to enter the Preakness on May 16 at Pimlico Race Course.

Mark Allen had considered entering Indy Express–winless in 9 career starts–over the weekend to take a spot from filly Rachel Alexandra, but he reconsidered after talking to Mine That Bird race horse trainer Bennie Woolley Jr. and co-owner Leonard Blach.

The Preakness field is limited to 14 Preakness starters, with preference given to those already pre-nominated to the Triple Crown.
