Eye Of The Leopard Wins Queen’s Plate at Woodbine June 21
Eye Of The Leopard took the lead in the deep stretch and went on to win the 150th running of the $1-million Queen’s Plate at Woodbine Sunday, June 21.
The 2-1 favorite Eye Of The Leopard sat off the pace for much of the race but was second making the turn behind Mr. Foricos Two U.
Eye Of The Leopard then took the lead coming home and earned Sam-Son Farms its fifth Queen’s Plate win and fourth for race horse trainer Mark Frostad.
Jockey Eurico Rosa da Silva earned his first Queen’s Plate win in his first mount in the race. San-Son Farms earned the $600,000 winner’s share in the Queen’s Plate, the first jewel in Canadian horse racing’s Triple Crown.
Eye of the Leopard paid $6.70, $4.10 and $2.90. Mr. Foricos Two U held on for second returning $7.20 and $4.60. Filly Milwaukee Appeal taking third paying $3.70 in the 13-horse Queen’s Plate field.
