Eaton’s Gift Wins The Smile Sprint Handicap at Calder Race Course July 11
Zayat Stables’ Eaton’s Gift, ridden by jockey Jose Lezcano, won Saturday’s $350,000 Smile Sprint Handicap at Calder Race Course‘s Summit of Speed July 11.
Trained by Dale Romans, Eaton’s Gift covered 6 furlongs in 1:11.25 and paid $31.20, $6 and $4.40. Benny the Bull, under jockey Edgar Prado, placed second and returned $2.10 across the board. Processor’s Turf with jockey Eduardo Nunez aboard came in third and paid $6 to show.
The Smile Sprint Handicap winner Eaton’s Gift earned a spot in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint on November 7 at Santa Anita as part of the 2009 Breeders’ Cup Challenge.
