Dad’s Crazy Wins The Miss Grillo Stakes at Belmont Park October 4
Smarch Racing’s Dad’s Crazy, ridden by jockey Julien Leparoux, won Sunday’s $141,000 Miss Grillo Stakes at Belmont Park October 4.
Trained by Todd Pletcher, Dad’s Crazy covered 1 mile in 1:40.04 and paid $10.20. Tapitsfly, under jockey Robbie Albarado, placed second. Fuzzy Britches with jockey Eddie Castro aboard came in third. There was no place and show payout due to the small field.
As part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge series, the Miss Grillo Stakes winner Dad’s Crazy earned a spot in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf field on November 6 at Santa Anita Park.
“She may be a better filly on turf, but she had trained well on dirt,” race horse trainer Todd Pletcher said of Dad’s Crazy. “It worked out well. We’ll look for something for her towards the end of the meet.”
Check the Label, Hatheer, Negligee, Smart Seattle, Zilva and Zodiac Girl were scratched in Belmont Park‘s Miss Grillo Stakes.
