Tice Ranch’s Assessment, ridden by jockey Gallyn Mitchell, won the $294,375 Longacres Mile Handicap at Emerald Downs on Sunday, August 16.
As part of the Breeders’ Cup 2009 Challenge, Longacres Mile Handicap winner Assessment will be part of the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile entries on November 7 at Santa Anita Park.

“I don’t want to sound cocky but I honestly believed I was on the best horse,” jockey Gallyn Mitchell said. “I know we were in against some great horses, but I have all the confidence in Assessment. Anyone who has ridden him seven times like I have would feel the same way.”
