Alcomo Wins The Greenwood Cup Stakes at Philadelphia Park July 18
Rahman Al Jasmi Abdul’s Alcomo, ridden by jockey Willie Martinez, won the $250,000 Greenwood Cup Stakes at Philadelphia Park on Saturday, July 18.
As part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge, Greenwood Cup Stakes winner Alcomo automatically qualifies for the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Marathon on November at Santa Anita Park.
Trained by Eduardo Caramori, Alcomo covered 1 1/2 miles in 2:31.88 and paid $13.20, $5.40 and $16.40. Alaazo, under jockey F. Pennington, placed second and returned $7.20 and $14.60. Eldaafer with jockey Clinton Potts aboard came in third and paid $10.80 to show.
