2009 Haskell Invitational Increased Purse To $1.25-Million
New Jersey’s Monmouth Park announced that it increased the purse for its biggest race by $250,000 making the total purse for the 2009 Haskell Invitational $1.25-million.
The Haskell winner will now get $750,000 while the second placer gets $250,000 and third placer with $125,000.
Expected in the August 2 Haskell Invitational field are the Preakness winner filly Rachel Alexandra, Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird, Arkansas Derby winner Papa Clem, multiple graded-stakes winner Munnings and Monmouth Park stakes victor Bunker Hill. Duke of Mischief, who won the Iowa Derby last out, is one of the possible Haskell entries.
