Whitney Handicap at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday, July 26

A field of 11 race horses will run in the $750,000 Whitney Handicap (gr. I) at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday, July 26. As part of the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Challenge, the Whitney Handicap winner will be one of the Breeders’ Cup horses for the October 25 Breeders’ Cup Classic to be held at Santa Anita Park.

Raced at 1 1/8 miles, Saratoga’s Whitney Handicap field with jockeys and weight line up as follows:

Commentator ridden by jockey John Velazquez carries 120 lbs.
Solar Flare (ARG) ridden by jockey Gabriel Saez, 115 lbs.
Notional ridden by jockey Edgar Prado, 116 lbs.
Cowtown Cat ridden by jockey Rafael Bejarano, 114 lbs.
Merchant Marine ridden by jockey Rajiv Maragh, 113 lbs.
Tasteyville ridden by jockey Michael Luzzi, 115 lbs.
Rising Moon ridden by jockey Cornelio Velasquez, 115 lbs.
Grasshopper ridden by jockey Robby Albarado, 116 lbs.
A. P. Arrow ridden by jockey Ramon Dominguez, 116 lbs.
Student Council ridden by jockey Shaun Bridgmohan, 117 lbs.

The Whitney Handicap is the 10th race in Saratoga’s July 26 horse racing program. Whitney Handicap post time is 5:46 pm.
