Perfect 3-for-3, Big Brown burst onto the scene with a hugely impressive win in the Florida Derby. He is undefeated and untested from those three starts, taking his stakes debut in the Florida Derby with ease despite breaking from the post position 12.

Big Brown has been compared to Horse of the Year and Preakness Stakes winner, Curlin, who finished third in last year’s Kentucky Derby. The toughest test for Big Brown’s young career might prove to be the 2008 Kentucky Derby.

Steve Asmussen trainee, Pyro, also the winner of the Risen Star Stakes (gr. III), was the 5-1 second choice in the Kentucky Derby Future Wager Pool 3. Pyro is expected to be the heavy favorite in the Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) next time out at Keeneland.

WinStar Farm’s Colonel John, an impressive winner in the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I), attracted strong support from horse betting fans on the pool’s final day and was the 6-1 third choice. Tale of Ekati, who upset War Pass in the Wood Memorial (GI), closed at 18-1 after his odds had floated as high as 77-1 early in the pool.
