Turf Paradise Derby at Turf Paradise on February 9

A field of 8 horses were entered in the $100,000 Turf Paradise Derby at Turf Paradise on Saturday, February 9.

The 1 1/16 mile Turf Paradise Derby on dirt is one of the 2008 Kentucky Derby preparatory races scheduled for Saturday. The other is the Risen Star Stakes with the same distance at Fair Grounds.

All carrying 122 pounds, the field of the Turf Paradise Derby on Saturday at Turf Paradise with jockeys consists of the following:

Midnight Wish ridden by jockey Jocelyne Kenny
Storm of Honor ridden by jockey Scott Stevens
Stormy Highland ridden by jockey Wilson Omar Dieguez
Ez Dreamer ridden by jockey Glenn Corbett
Meer Kat ridden by jockey Martin Pedroza
Nikki’sgoldensteed ridden by jockey Jon Kenton Court
Sheer Presence ridden by jockey Chris Landeros

In his most recent start on January 20, Ez Dreamer won the $50,000 Rattlesnake Stakes for 3-year-olds at Turf Paradise’s dirt track by 9 3/4 lengths against Stormy Highland and Campeone. Trained by Kory Owens, the colt by In Excess, Ez Dreamer, has won 3 of his 6 starts.

Irish-bred Meer Kat placed third in his U.S. debut in the Generous Stakes at Hollywood Park on November 24. Jockey Martin Pendroza will take the reigns for Ben Cecil.

The Turf Paradise Derby is scheduled as the 8th race on Turf Paradise’s February 9 horse racing program. Estimated post time is 4:14 pm MST.
