It wasn’t Nick Zito’s as Anak Nakal finished a disappointing 7th in the nine-horse field of the Rebel Stakes while War Pass finished last in the Tampa Bay Derby over at Tampa Bay Downs.

California-bred Sierra Sunset was purchased for $40,000 by a partnership of Philip Lebherz, Al Mariani, George Schmitt, and Carol Wirth. After the victory, Mariani was making plans for Sierra Sunset for the 2008 Arkansas Derby.
