A top quality field of 12 race horses will go postward in Saturday’s 23rd running of the $600,000 Shadwell Turf Mile (gr. I), part of the 2008 Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” Challenge. The winner will earn a spot in the Breeders’ Cup field for the October 25 Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. I) to be run Oak Tree at Santa Anita Park.
All carrying 126 pounds, Keeneland’s Shadwell Turf Mile field of race horses with jockeys and morning line odds from the hedge out:
Shakis (IRE) ridden by jockey Rafael Bejarano with morning line odds of 7-2
Bookending the Shadwell Turf Mile field will be Shadwell Stable’s Shakis (IRE), repeat winner of the Bernard Baruch (gr. II) at Saratoga, who will break from post position 1, and Woodbine Mile (gr. I) winner Rahy’s Attorney, who will break from post position 12. Rahy’s Attorney is owned by Ellie Boje Farm, Mitch Peters, Dean Peters, Dean Read and Jean and Jim MacLellan.
Other 2008 graded or group stakes winners in the field are Buffalo Man, French Beret, Lord Admiral, Lovelace (GB) and Thorn Song.
