Preakness Results & Payouts: Big Brown Wins

IEAH Stables and Paul Pompa, Jr.’s Big Brown, ridden by jockey Kent Desormeaux, won the $1-million Preakness Stakes 133 (gr. I) by 5 1/4 lengths Saturday, May 17, at Pimlico Race Couse.

Big Brown is expected to head to New York’s Belmont Park for the final jewel of the Triple Crown, the 2008 Belmont Stakes (gr. I).

Trained by Richard Dutrow, Jr., Big Brown raced 1 3/16 miles in 1:54.80 and paid $2.40, $2.60 and $2.40. Macho Again, under jockey Julien Leparoux, returned $17.20 and $10.40. Icabad Crane with jockey Jeremy Rose aboard came in third and showed $5.60.

Three-year-old horses that also raced in the 2008 Preakness Stakes: Racecar Rhapsody, Stevil, Kentucky Bear, Hey Byrn, Giant Moon, Tres Borrachos, Yankee Bravo, Gayego and Riley Tucker. Behindatthebar was scratched.
