Mr. Nightlinger Wins Arlington Sprint Handicap at Arlington Park
Martin Racing Stable and Carl Moore Management LLC’s Mr. Nightlinger, ridden by jockey Jamie Theriot, won the $200,000 Arlington Sprint Handicap Saturday, August 23, at Arlington Park.
As part of the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win & You’re In Series of horse races, the Arlington Sprint Handicap winner Mr. Nightlinger will be one of the Breeders’ Cup horses for the October 25 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint to be held at Santa Anita Park.
Trained by William Bret Calhoun, Mr. Nightlinger covered 5 1/2 furlongs on turf in 1:01.89 and paid $3.40, $2.40 and $2.10. Starticus, under jockey Junior Alvarado, returned $4.80 and $3.80. Prince Woodman with jockey Richard Migliore aboard paid $3.20 to show.
Other horses that raced in the Arlington Sprint Handicap in order of finish: Fort Prado, Mighty Rule, Native Ruler, Dhanyata, John’s Road, Base Commander and Lovango.
