Maram Wins Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Santa Anita Park October 24
Karen Woods and Saud bin Khaled’s Maram, ridden by jockey Jose Lezcano, held off a challenge from Heart Shaped at the wire to win the inaugural $1,035,080 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Oak Tree at Santa Anita Park on Breeders’ Cup Day Friday, October 24.
Trained by Chad Brown, Maram covered 1 mile on turf in 1:35.15 and paid $24.20, $13.20 and $6.40. A nose behind, Heart Shaped, under jockey John Murtagh, placed second and returned $11.60 and $6.60. Laragh with jockey Edgar Prado aboard came in third and paid $3.40 to show.
