Laragh Wins JP Morgan Chase Jessamine Stakes at Keeneland & An Entry In The Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf Field
Laragh, ridden by jockey Edgar Prado, wins the $150,000 JPMorgan Chase Jessamine Stakes at Keeneland on Thursday, October 9.
The Jessamine Stakes is the last of the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Challenge races where the winner will automatically become one of the Breeders’ Cup contenders for their respective Breeders’ Cup races. Jessamine Stakes winner Laragh will get a berth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf on October 14 at Santa Anita Park.
Trained by John Terranova, Laragh covered 1 1/16 miles on turf in 1:43.54 and paid $25.20, $10.60 and $6.20. Habaya, under jockey Richard Migliore, placed second and returned $4.80 and $3.60. Complicity with jockey Julien Leparoux aboard came in third and paid $4.60 to show.
