Kentucky Derby & Preakness Winner Big Brown Works at Aqueduct

Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Big Brown returned to work with regular exercise rider Michelle Nevin aboard Wednesday morning going five-eighths of a mile in a slow 1:06.71 at Aqueduct.

It was Big Brown’s first workout since running last in the Belmont Stakes last month.

“It was no big deal, a nice easy breeze,” race horse trainer Richard Dutrow Jr. said. “I told Michelle not to go too fast. He looks like he’s good.”

Dutrow said the 3-year-old colt’s feet, including the cracked hoof patched the day before the Belmont Stakes, are in fine shape.

“Everything looks good. The quarter crack is long gone,” Dutrow said.

The next race for Big Brown will likely be the $1 million Haskell Invitational on August 3 at Monmouth Park.
