Jonesboro Wins Tiznow Handicap & An Entry In The Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile
Michael Langford’s Jonesboro, ridden by jockey Robby Albarado, won the $151,500 Tiznow Handicap at Louisiana Downs Saturday, September 20.
As part of the 2008 Breeders’ Cup “Win & You’re In” Challenge, the Tiznow Handicap winner Jonesboro will be one of the Breeders’ Cup horses for the October 25 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile to be held at Santa Anita Park.
Trained by Randy Morse, Jonesboro covered 1 1/6 miles in 1:44.22 and paid $3.60, $2.20 and $2.10. Autobeacat, under jockey Donnie Meche, was 1 3/4 lengths behind returning $3 and $2.40. Another neck back, Smokeyjonessutton with jockey Kent Desormeaux showed $2.60.
Race horse trainer Randy Morse said a start in the Breeders’ Cup was unlikely, but did not rule it out.
Other horses that raced in Louisiana Downs’s Tiznow Handicap in order of finish: Dreamsandvisions, Got the Last Laugh, Crook’s Stinger, Longley and Etesaal.
