Hystericalady Wins Delaware Handicap & An Entry In The Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic

Hystericalady won the $1,000,900 Delaware Handicap (gr. II) on Sunday, July 13, at Delaware Park and became one of the Breeders’ Cup entries for the October 24 Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic, formerly known as the Breeders’ Cup Distaff, at Santa Anita Park.

Trained and co-owned by Jerry Hollendorfer, Hystericalady, ridden by jockey Garrett Gomez, covered 1 1/4 miles in 2:02.37 and paid $7, $4.20 and $2.60. Lemon Drop Mom, under jockey Jose Carballo, returned $13.20 and $6.20. The 2-to-1 favorite Unbridled Belle with jockey Ramon Dominguez paid $2.80 to show.

The 5-year-old daughter of Distorted Humor, Hystericalady, raised her career record to 10 wins from 20 starts with earnings of $2,110,556.

Fillies and mares that also raced in the Delaware Handicap in order of finish: Spring Waltz, Buy the Barrel, All Smiles, Santa Teresita and Kathleens Reel. Copper State, Moon Catcher and Over Under were scratched.
