Haskell Invitational Entries Change: Truth Rules Out With Fever, Coal Play In
Race horse trainer Nick Zito said Wednesday that the Long Branch (gr. III) winner Truth Rules will miss the 2008 Haskell Invitational (gr. I) on August 3 at Monmouth Park due to a fever and will be replaced by Coal Play.
Coal Play will join Fountain of Youth (gr. II) and Spend a Buck winner Cool Coal Man in the starting lineup of the Haskell Invitational field. All three race horses are owned by Robert LaPenta.
“It’s too bad about Truth Rules, because he was training great,” LaPenta said.
Coal Play, a $200,000 yearling purchase at the Keeneland September sale, has a record of 2-1-1 in 8 starts.
