Grand Couturier Wins Sword Dancer Invitational at Saratoga August 16
Marc Keller’s Grand Couturier, ridden by jockey Alan Garcia wins the $500,000 Sword Dancer Invitational at Saratoga Race Course on Saturday, August 16.
As part of the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win & You’re In” series of horse races, the Sword Dancer Invitational winner Grand Couturier will automatically become part of the Breeders’ Cup field for the October 25 Breeders’ Cup Turf to be held at Santa Anita Park.
Trained by Robert Ribaudo, Grand Couturier covered 1 1/2 miles in 2:32.21 and paid $9.30, $4.80 and $3.70. Better Talk Now, under jockey Ramon Dominguez, placed second and returned $4.30 and $3.50. Interpatation with jockey Jose Espinoza aboard came in third and paid $5.50 to show.
Other horses that raced in Saratoga‘s Sword Dancer Invitational are: Presious Passion, Dancing Forever and Equitable. Champs Elysees and Red Rocks were scratched.
