The 6-year-old Brazilian-bred Einstein wins the $273,000 Gulfstream Park Turf Stakes (gr. IT) by a neck over long shot Dancing Forever Saturday, February 23.
Ridden by Jose Lezcano for the first time, Einstein covered 1 3/8 miles on turf in 2:12.87 and paid $8, $5, $3.60. Dancing Forever under jockey Rene Douglas returned $21.40 and $9.60. Stream of Gold with rider Eddie Castro placed third and paid $2.80 to show.
The son of Spend a Buck trained by Helen Pitts, Einstein, has won seven of 16 starts and earned $714,782. It was the third straight year Einstein has run the Gulfstream Park Turf Stakes. He won it in 2006 and finished third last year, beaten by less than a length.
