Donativum Wins The 2008 At Santa Anita Park October 25
HRH Princess Haya of Jordan and Darley Stable’s Donativum, ridden by jockey Lanfranco Dettori, held off Westphalia to win the $1-million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf on October 25 Breeders’ Cup Day Saturday at Santa Anita Park.
Trained by John Gosden, Donativum covered 1 mile on turf in 1:34.68 and paid $13.60, $7 and $5. Westphalia, under jockey John Murtagh, placed second and returned $5.40 and $3.80. Coronet of a Baron with jockey Alan Garcia aboard came in third and paid $5.40 to show.
Other horses that raced in the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita in order of finish: City Style, Relatively Ready, Vaquero, Orthodox, Bittel Road, Ninth Client, Grand Adventure, Skipadate and Paddy The Pro. Mark S the Cooler was scratched.
