Desert Code Wins The 2008 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint At Santa Anita Park October 25
Tarabilla Farms’s 36-1 long shot Desert Code, ridden by jockey Richard Migliore, wins the $1,094,620 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint on October 25 Breeders’ Cup Day Saturday at Santa Anita Park.
Trained by David Hofmans, Desert Code covered 6 1/2 furlongs on downhill turf in 1:11.60 and paid $75, $30.80 and $21. Half a length behind, Diabolical, under jockey Lanfranco Dettori, placed second and returned $7.60 and $5.20. Storm Treasure with jockey Shaun Bridgmohan aboard was another 3/4 lengths back in in third and paid $9.20 to show.
The longest shot on the board, Desert Code, came far back and was full of run late to give jockey Richard Migliore his first career Breeders’ Cup win while race horse trainer David Hofmans earned his third Breeders’ Cup victory.
