A field of 10 horses will compete in the $100,000 Derby Trial (gr. III) at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, on Saturday, April 26.
Raced at 1 mile, the Derby Trial is one of the 2008 Kentucky Derby prep races scheduled for Saturday. The other Kentucky Derby prep is the Withers Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct.

Swale Stakes winner Eaton’s Gift was third in the Lafayette Stakes on April 6 at Keeneland. Dale Romans trainee, Eaton’s Gift, will break from the first post under jockey Tracey Herbert in Saturday’s Derby Trial.
Another Lafayette Stakes runner, Kodiak Kowboy finished fourth as the even-money favorite behind Vision Racing’s Keep Laughing. Kodiak Kowboy was also the winner of last year’s Saratoga Special (gr. II). Jockey Corey Lanerie will be mounting for horse trainer Steve Asmussen.
Majestic Warrior ran 6th in the Florida Derby behind Big Brown, one of the leading 2008 Kentucky Derby entries. The A.P. Indy colt trianed by Bill Mott, Majestic Warrior, was 7th in his three-year-old debut, the March 8 Louisiana Derby (gr. II) where Pyro, another one of the leading 2008 Kentucky Derby contenders, took the lead. Jockey Robby Albarado will be riding this Saturday.
