Del Mar Mile Handicap at Del Mar August 24

Eleven race horses will run in the $400,000 Del Mar Mile Handicap (gr. II) at Del Mar Sunday, August 24.

As part of the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win & You’re In Series of horse races, the Del Mar Mile Handicap winner will become one of the Breeders’ Cup horses for the October 25 Breeders’ Cup Mile to be held at Santa Anita Park.

Raced at 1 mile on turf, the Del Mar Mile Handicap field of horses with jockeys and weight line up as follows:

Porto Santo (FR) ridden by jockey Tyler Baze, 114 lbs.
Dark Islander (IRE) ridden by jockey Joel Rosario, 114 lbs.
Storm Military (ARG) ridden by jockey David Flores, 115 lbs.
Whatsthescript (IRE) ridden by jockey Garrett Gomez, 117 lbs.
Bold Chieftain ridden by jockey Russell Baze, 118 lbs.
Global Hunter (ARG) ridden by jockey Jose Valdivia Jr, 114 lbs.
One Union ridden by jockey Victor Espinoza, 117 lbs.
Daytona (IRE) ridden by jockey Alex Solis, 121 lbs.
Stoneside (IRE) ridden by jockey Mike Smith, 116 lbs.
Monzante ridden by jockey Rafael Bejarano, 118 lbs.
Willow O Wisp ridden by jockey Brice Blanc, 111 lbs.
