Del Mar Handicap at Del Mar Race Track August 23

A field of 9 race horses will run in the $250,000 Del Mar Handicap on Saturday, August 23, at Del Mar.

As part of the 2008 Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win & You’re In” series, the Del Mar Handicap winner will automatically be one of the Breeders’ Cup horses for the October 25 Breeders’ Cup Turf to be held at Santa Anita Park.

Raced at 1 3/8 miles on turf, the Del Mar Handicap field of race horses with jockeys and weight line up as follows:

Transduction Gold ridden by jockey Jon Court carries 116 lbs.
Church Service ridden by jockey Brice Blanc, 117 lbs.
Heroi Do Bafra (BRZ) ridden by jockey Aaron Gryder, 115 lbs.
American Imperium ridden by jockey Joe Talamo, 113 lbs.
You Got Me Rocking ridden by jockey Joel Rosario, 112 lbs.
Runaway Dancer ridden by jockey Alex Solis, 117 lbs.
Spring House ridden by jockey Corey Nakatani, 118 lbs.
Tissy Fit ridden by jockey Rafael Bejarano, 113 lbs.
Mr.Universo (BRZ) ridden by jockey Victor Espinoza, 114 lbs.

The Del Mar Handicap is the 8th race in Del Mar’s August 23 horse racing program. Del Mar Handicap post time is 5:30 pm.
