Opening the 2008 Breeders’ Cup World Championships Saturday card at Santa Anita Park will be the inaugural running of the $500,000 Breeders’ Cup Marathon at 1 1/2 miles.
Race horses that earned automatic berths into the Breeders’ Cup Marathon field of 9 are Hobeau Farm’s Delightful Kiss, trained by Pete Anderson, and Gary and Cecil Barber’s Zappa, trained by John Sadler.

Breeders’ Cup Day Saturday’s third grass race will be the inaugural running of the $1-million Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint at 6 1/2 furlongs.
