Brandon and Marianne Chase’s Albertus Maximus, ridden by jockey Garrett Gomez, wins the $916,000 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile on October 25 Breeders’ Cup Day Saturday at Santa Anita Park.
Trained by Vladimir Cerin, Albertus Maximus covered 1 mile in 1:33.41 and paid $14.60, $7.40 and $5.40. Rebellion, under jockey Edgar Prado, placed second and returned $16 and $11.20. Two Step Salsa with jockey Martin Pendroza aboard came in third and paid $12.80; to show.
