Nobiz like Shobiz has secured a spot in the upcoming Breeders’ Cup Mile
One of the Kentucky Derby leaders has secured a spot in the upcoming Breeders’ Cup Mile. Nobiz like Shobiz will be ridden by John Velazquez after his owner Elizabeth Valando already has forked over $20,000 in pre-entry fees for the Breeders’ Cup Mile, and trainer Barclay Tagg said Friday morning it was likely the colt’s connections also would put up the additional $30,000 so Nobiz like Shobiz can race on the Breeders’ Cup race on October 26.
However, the problem was that Showbiz’s rider for the last two races, Javier Castellano will be riding on BC Mile runner Trippi’s Storm. Castellano has previously ridden Trippi in the Kelso Handicap for the win. After some concern on who to find to ride Nobiz, Velazquez has stepped up to the challenge.
It looks like Velazquez has his work cut out for him. Although equipped with a very solid win history, the Kentucky Derby proved tough when he placed 10th. As a result, the Nobiz crew have decided to shift his concentration to grass racing.
