Mischief in Cashcall Futurity at Hollywood Park

Hollywood Prevue runner-up Into Mischief under Victor Espinoza turned the tables on Massive Drama and won the $753,000 CashCall Futurity (gr. I), a race that’s considered one of the early indicators of Kentucky Derby contenders, at the closing day of Hollywood Park‘s 32-day Autumn Meet on Saturday, December 22.

This is the second win of the day for jockey Victor Espinoza who in an earlier race won the On Trust Handicap riding Greg’s Gold.

The son of Harlan’s Holiday trained by Richard Mandella, Into Mischief ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:40.82 and paid $29.60, $11 and $8.40. Colonel John ridden by Cory Nakatani is second to finish and returned $4 and $3.60. Hollywood Prevue winner Massive Drama with Kent Desormeaux riding him finished third and paid $4.60 to show.

Todd Pletcher’s Monba ridden by top jockey Garrett Gomez came in fourth followed by Indian Sun, Sierra Sunset, Eaton’s Gift, Meal Penalty, Overextended, Shore Do, Referee and Tres Borrachos. Old Man Buck and Slew’s Tiznow were scratched.
