D Pirates Marker To Race In Cat’s Cradle Handicap at Hollywood Park

Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer, D Pirates Marker will run in the $100,000 Cat’s Cradle Handicap at Hollywood Park on Friday, December 21.

Jerry Hollendorfer is hoping that D Pirates Marker would get him closer to 5,000 wins, of which he is 2 wins short, so he can join 3 other horse racing trainers that passed the 5,000 mark: Dale Baird (9,444), Jack Van Berg (6,378) and King Leatherbury (6,227).

D Pirates Marker will be ridden by Garrett Gomez, the nation’s money-leading jockey as his mounts have earned more than $22.4 million in North America and more than $23.4 million including international horse races in 2007. Garrett Gomez has also ridden a record 75 stakes winner in 2007.

Horses that will race in the 7 1/2 furlong Cat’s Cradle Handicap at Hollywood Park’s Cushion Track from the rail out are:

  6. Swiss Diva ridden by jockey Victor Espinoza, 117 lbs.
  7. Purrfectly Fitting ridden by jockey David Flores, 116 lbs.
  8. D Pirates Marker ridden by jockey Garrett Gomez, 117 lbs.

Hollywood Park’s Friday program follows four dark days as it completes its 32-day Autumn Meet with cards Friday and Saturday – when the CashCall Futurity and On Trust Handicap will be contested.
