Curlin Back On Track After Defeating Lawyer Ron At The Jockey Club Gold Cup
The Preakness Stakes winner, Curlin is back in action after being defeated by Rags to Riches in the Belmont Stakes.
At Belmont Park, before a crowd of 19,338, Curlin, the winner of the Jockey Club Gold Cup wore down Lawyer Ron, taking one of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge series races.
Curlin, under jockey Robby Albarado, they initiated a three-wide move around the far turn pushing ahead to take the race by a neck. Placing Lawyer Ron in second and down by four lengths, Political Force at third.
This exciting finish proves as a prelude of things to come when Curlin and Lawyer Ron meet in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic, a mere four weeks away slated for Oct. 27 at Monmouth Park. Curlin had earned an automatic berth as part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge series program.
