Citronnade Leads The Dahlia Handicap at Hollywood Park
Odds-on favorite Citronnade with jockey David Flores aboard easily outran rivals to win the $150,000 Dahlia Handicap (gr. II) with a 2-lenght victory at Hollywood Park on Sunday, December 16.
The victory was the record seventh for Hall of Fame trainer Bobby Frankel in the Dahlia Handicap. His first came with Lina Cavalieri in 1984 and his most recent when Surya finished in a dead heat with Tout Charmant in 2002.
Citronnade covered 1 1/16 miles on the Lakeside Turf Course in 1:41.49 and paid $3.80, $2.60 and $2.40. Black Mamba with rider Tyler Baze returned $3.20 and $2.80. Lavender Sky under jockey Alex Solis paid $6 to show.
Marietta came in fourth followed by Meribel, Hucking Hot, Memorette, Trick’s Pic and Foxysox. Live Life and Nashoba’s Key and Shermeen were scratched.
