Post Guide for Posting Selections - Effective 3/10/06

To all HorsesWild members who post their selections.

In order to keep HW a user friendly place so that everyone can share in the exchange of useful information, its important that we use similiar methods for posting our race selections. We also understand that most players have limited bankrolls. For that reason we want to limit the number of selections posted based on the actual number of entries in any given race. This will enable anyone to realistically structure their exoctic bets accordingly.
(See Exotic Betting information in the Betting Strategies Forum - http://www.horseswild.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12822 )

We've decided to maintain our Original format for posting either PRE-race or LIVE selections, only because most are already very familiar with it and it seems to work.

There are (11) basic posting Rules that we would like everyone to follow:

1) All selected entries that are posted must be listed with the Race No. and the Entry No. as a betting interest.
(Posting of an Entry’s Name with its number is optional.)
(Posting of Pre-race comments about potential or playability is also optional)

2) For posting of preferred selections the following limits will apply based on the number of race entries :
a) For all races with 5 or less entries, ONLY the top 2 selections are to be provided.
b) For all races with 6 or 7 entries, ONLY the top 3 selections are to be provided.
c) For all races with 8 to 10 entries, ONLY the top 4 selections are to be provided.
d) For all races with 11 or more entries ONLY the top 4 selections with a possible long shot are to be provided. The long shot must be indicated as such.

Note: (1) additional selection may be added in Item “b” or "c" but only for the Exotics if a Triple or Super is available. (If the Exotic doesn't hit, and the added choice (not a Key) wins, no “win” credit is valid)

3) For "Pre-race" selections ONLY - An additional entry may be posted in “( parenthesis )”.
This will indicate an Alternate in case of a Scratch or a Long Shot.

4) If one or more KEY entries are posted (to be used in Exoctics) then one additional entry may be listed for each case shown above. If a key selection(s) is pointed out it will be assumed that it will be used in any or all of the top spots. If the key runs out the any exotic is dead.

5) The alternative for posting Exotic type Wheeled bets - multiple selections can be posted for each of the top 3 or 4 positions separately. Each position will have a limited number of entries also based on the overall No. of entries in the Race as follows: W/P/S/R - (Win/Place/Show/RunnerUp)
a) For 7 or less race Entries - 2/2/3/3
b) For 8 to 10 race Entries - 2/3/5/5
c) For 11 or more- race Entries - 2/4/5/5

Post NOTICE for Posting Selections - Effective 3/10/06 (continued)

6) ALL selections are to be listed in a Ranked Order of Preference. That means the entries posted from left to right are shown as those the player deems as the better selections.

7) ALL "Live" selections should be posted by 5 mins. to Post time if possible.
NO Live
selection should be made beyond 3 mins. to Post for obvious reasons.
(Just pass the race!)

8 ) NO Editing what-so-ever of ANY originally posted selections. Any changes or revisions must be made on a separate post at least 3 mins to post time.

9) Only a SINGLE thread will be used for any track on any given day. Pre-race and Live race selections will be co-mingled on the same thread.

10) Special Pre-race selections (such as Long shots, Hot Tips, Angles, or Spot Plays, etc.) for multiple tracks can be posted on a unique thread of their own. The thread title should indicate the "special" nature of the type of selections and tracks if possible.

11) Posting of Results is Optional. All Results provided must be posted seperately on the SAME thread where the original selections were made.

NOTE: Providing fewer race selections for a race is Never an issue.

If anyone is wondering why this announcement is necessary, please keep in mind that others are trying to use our selections. By each of us following the same basic format, it will be easier and less confusing for others to follow. Most of us are already following these rules to some degree, but very often we can get carried way with our enthusiasm to provide a winning play. So lets see if we can abide by these basic rules without having to police the various threads.

Any HW member can submit their suggestions or comments to me or Barr0329, or Docwatson in a Private Message. We will consider modifying or adding to this format if necessary.

Thanks for your cooperation and Best of Luck!

Hi Everyone,

I have read the thread from 3 years ago and not much if anything has chaged from the original thread. Slick, myself and the others agree that we just want this site to be user friendly for the new members coming in and for the existing memebers who have been here for a long time. Most of you know this already but you will not find a site out there with the structure, precision and the knowledge of the handicappers we have here at Horseswild, I believe that if you do find one your gonna have to fork out $29.95 a month for it. When you come in here and check out all of the picks and decide for your self what you want to play its your decision. You all like me may post your picks on a thread but if your like myself or a dozen others, someone elses picks may look more appealing and you forget your own picks and play there's, Its a free choice with the operative word being "FREE" If we all stay structured the way we are now it only makes us better. I believe we are the #1 Website for our picks but most importantly our Handicappers and that is why our members join and why our lurkers lurk.

Thanks and Good Luck!

This pretty much looks like the way we've been doing it all along.

I think all of us know that in a six & seven horse field a four and five horse trifect box isn't going to produce much value as far as your overall ROI goes.

This was a good idea to refresh the HW on how things go as its that time fo the year when horse racing starts heating up again as the 3-year olds start the run for the Triple Crown. Which is sure to generate new players to our game.

When these new players do a google search and wind up here at Horses Wild a thread like this helps them better understand what all those numbers mean.

This sport needs as many new comers to "STICK" with us as we can get.

Peace

Doc

Based on some recent comments regarding the posting of Race Results I'd like to add the the following:

Posting of results has ALWAYS been an option for members who post THEIR selections. However, there’s BIG difference between just posting the results of a race in terms of the finishing order and also posting the monetary value of what the Mutual and Exotic pools offered.

Any member can certainly post the finishing order of any race, but the ONLY time the monetary value of a race can be posted is when a member has in fact posted the selections that produced that value. It's definitely misleading to post the monetary value of something that was never posted to begin with! I think the distinction between the two is fairly obvious.

There isn’t any justification for anyone to post BOTH the finishing order and the monetary returns if they didn’t actually post the selections to produce those returns.

There are any number of sites that offer both in real time, and there’s obviously NO conflict of interest between members of HW using them at any time while viewing the posted selections of our members.
